China metro QR codes: set up the transport code before the gate

Complete the app’s identity step early rather than at a busy station entrance.

The Ministry of Commerce’s English guide says some mobile-payment and metro-operator apps support QR-code entry. Its Alipay example is Transport → City, followed by identity verification to obtain a metro QR code that is scanned for entry and exit. App support and prompts are live conditions, so confirm them in the current service.

A clear next step

  1. Open the current transport feature in your supported app before reaching the gate.
  2. Complete any requested identity verification.
  3. Use the generated QR code at entry and exit where the station supports it.
